James first discovered investing after reading The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life in the 10th grade. He was fascinated by Buffett’s story and bought his first stock shortly thereafter, igniting a passion for business and investing that has only grown with time. James previously completed two internships at Burgundy with the U.S. large-cap and Canadian large-cap teams, where he immediately identified with the firm’s bottom-up, owner-oriented investment philosophy and focus on winning over the long term. He considers himself fortunate to have received such great mentorship during his time as an intern and jumped at the chance to transition full-time to the U.S. small/mid-cap equity team.
